How someone.fm works
See people. Choose someone. Ring. Talk.
1. Introduce yourself
In the iPhone app, continue with Apple and enter your birthday. Someone FM is for people aged 18 or older. Choose a name or nickname, select at least three interests, and optionally add a photo and something you could talk about for hours. You can keep a default portrait instead of uploading a photo.
2. Find someone you would enjoy talking to
Browse People and open a profile. Friends and people you have spoken with appear separately from new people. A profile can remain visible when its owner is offline; visibility is not a promise that someone can talk right now.
3. Send a Ring
Tap Ring on a profile, optionally add a short comment or question, then tap Ring again to send. A Ring is an invitation, not an immediate call. You can send one while someone is offline and keep browsing afterward. Invitations are available in Rings; notifications depend on the recipient’s settings and delivery.
4. Join when you are both ready
The recipient can choose Talk or Not now. Open the invitation and choose Join conversation when needed. Microphone access is requested when joining, not when you send an invitation. Audio starts once both people have joined.
5. Make it your conversation
Talk, play a game, draw together, send emoji reactions, or share a song preview. These are optional. Mute or end the call whenever you want. A friend request is separate from a conversation and requires acceptance.
Me is where you can edit your profile, see recent conversations, invite people, and open Settings. Read the safety guide for reporting and blocking.
Using the website
Browser matching uses a temporary session to connect two people, without the iPhone app’s profiles or friend list. Private links let you invite someone to a browser call. Allow microphone access when prompted; either person can leave at any time. Browser and iPhone features are not identical.
