Safety and community rules

Last updated September 24, 2026.

Someone FM is for adults aged 18 or older. Be curious, be respectful, and remember that nobody owes you a conversation. You can decline a Ring, mute, or leave a call at any time.

What is not allowed

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users.

  • Harassment, bullying, hate speech, threats, or encouragement of violence.
  • Sexual harassment, unwanted sexual content, or sexual exploitation.
  • Impersonation, scams, spam, or repeated unwanted contact.
  • Sharing someone else’s personal information or private content without permission.
  • Illegal content, exploitation of minors, or attempts to bypass age restrictions.

These rules apply to profiles, photos, notes, Ring comments, and conversations.

Report or block someone in the iPhone app

Open the person’s profile in People and use the three-dot menu to choose Report or Block. Choose the reason that best describes the issue. If the report fails to send, try again or email hello@someone.fm.

Blocking prevents new Rings and messages between your accounts and hides your profiles and shared conversation from each other. Blocking during a call also leaves that call. Manage blocks in Me → Settings → Blocked people.

During a voice call, open the three-dot menu to report or block the other person. You can leave immediately. In a text conversation, touch and hold a received message or Ring note to report it. Choose Hide for me to remove a conversation item immediately on this device; this does not erase the other person’s copy. The conversation menu also offers Report and Block. Your own temporary profile note can be removed from Me.

Filtering and moderation

Submitted profile text, photos, notes, Ring comments, and messages are checked using automated text and image safety filtering before they are shared. Flagged content is not published. Automated checks can make mistakes, so reporting and human review remain important. Live voice and drawings are not checked by this text and image filter; report, block, or leave a call if something is inappropriate.

We review objectionable-content reports within 24 hours. When we confirm a violation, we remove access to the offending content and suspend the account responsible. Contact support if you believe an action was mistaken.

Getting help with a report

Reports provide account and incident information for follow-up. If you contact us, include the profile name, approximate date and time, and a short explanation. Do not send passwords or unrelated private information. You can also use Me → Settings → Report a safety issue, or emailhello@someone.fm.

Reports are not a live emergency channel. Someone FM is not an emergency, crisis, or professional support service. Contact local emergency services if anyone is in immediate danger.

Choose what you share

A nickname and default portrait are fine. Public profile details are visible to other users, so only include information you are comfortable sharing. Avoid sharing passwords, financial details, or your exact address. Someone FM does not verify that a person’s profile claims are true.

Another participant could capture or repeat something you say or share. Do not record, distribute, or publish someone’s conversation or content without their permission. See our Privacy Policy.

Browser calls

You can leave a browser call at any time and use its report control for abusive conduct. Browser sessions do not have the iPhone app’s persistent profile and blocked-people screens. For additional help, contact support.
